Christmas Raffle and Snowman Competition
“Last week the Town Council drew the names for the winners of the Christmas raffle and the ‘Name the Snowman’ competition.
In place of the annual Christmas parties for the over 60’s, which were not possible this year, the Town Council organised a raffle for all of those eligible to attend. The people entitled were those who had booked to go on the annual coach outings in 2020, which were unfortunately cancelled due to the Covid-19 restrictions.
We are extremely grateful to all the local businesses who came forward, together with the council, to donate forty good prizes. The prize winners have all been informed and the list of the companies that donated has been published on the council notice boards.
I was very pleased to be joined, at a social distance, by Hannah Birch who helped draw the tickets. Hannah is a great ambassador for youth in Halstead and is a key member of the youth organisation HAPPY (Halstead Action Promoting Positive Youth). Recently Hannah donated 18 inches of her hair on her 18th birthday to a child cancer charity for making wigs and also raised funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
We hope that this raffle brings a Christmas cheer to those who would have attended the Christmas parties. We all look forward to holding the parties again in December 2021.
Hannah also drew the winner of the ‘Name the Snowman’ competition which was won by Chloe Hawkes from Halstead.
A big thank you goes to Lorraine Dover who did a fantastic job in organising the raffle and snowman competition.”
