At Monday’s Annual Town Council meeting, Cllr Andrew Munday handed the chains of office to the newly elected Chairman of Halstead Town Council, Cllr Jim Bond. Cllr Bond, who was elected unopposed, also takes on the role of our new Mayor.
In his acceptance speech, which can be read in full in the minutes of the meeting here; Draft Minutes, Cllr Bond thanked Cllr Munday for his hard work over the last two years, especially in regard to fundraising for Dementia friendly activities, and said that his focus would be on raising funds for activities for children and young people.
He went on to say that he would continue to focus on the promised delivery of the Community Arts Centre and, continued working with the Council and H4C Charity, to find ways that the Charity can realise their ambitions to provide a community facility of some kind for the Town, both of which will help to regenerate an important area.
He hopes that the Town Council will continue to show leadership and vision in supporting our community in ways that will help them with some of the challenges and opportunities.
Cllr Paul Nunn was elected Vice Chair after being nominated by Cllr Munday by 8 votes. His competition for the post was Cllr Gemma MacAndrews, nominated by Cllr Graham McCoyd.
