The Chairman, Councillor D.Hume, welcomed everyone to the meeting.
- ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN/MAYOR
The Clerk asked for nominations for the office of Chairman and Mayor for the year 2014/2015.
The following nomination was received for the office of Chairman / Mayor:
Councillor D Hume – Proposed by Councillor Mrs S Diver – Seconded by Cllr S Kirby
There were no other nominations and it was unanimously RESOLVED: That Councillor D Hume is appointed as Chairman and Mayor for the year 2014/2015.
The Mayor and Chairman, Councillor D Hume, thanked Members for their vote of confidence. He said that it was an honour to continue for a further term of office.
Councillor D Hume signed the Declaration of Office.
Councillor D Hume took the Chair for the rest of the meeting
2. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE
Apology received from Cllr Mrs J Allen
3. ELECTION OF VICE CHAIRMAN
The following nomination was received for the office of Vice Chairman:
Councillor Mrs J Pell – Proposed by Councillor Mrs L Hilton – Seconded by Councillor H Catley
There were no other nominations and it was unanimously RESOLVED: That Councillor Mrs J Pell is appointed as Vice Chairman for the year 2014/2015.
Councillor Mrs J Pell signed The Declaration of Office and said she would be pleased to support Mayor David Hume for a further term of office.
4. ELECTION OF COMMITTEES
The Chairman and Vice-Chairman are ex-officio members of all committees. A proposition by Cllr Mrs J Pell, seconded by Cllr M Fincken, that the membership of the Staff Review Group and the Planning Committee remain as the previous year was unanimously agreed as

B. PLANNING COMMITTEE
It was proposed and seconded that all Councillors are members of the Planning Committee.
(it was noted Cllr S Kirby does not attend the Town Council Planning and leaves the meeting for all planning decisions since he is a member of Braintree District Council Planning Committee.)
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned and standing orders suspended to enable committees to meet and make appointments.

5. ANY OTHER BUSINESS CONSIDERED URGENT BY THE CHAIRMAN
A question was raised about whether the Annual Town Meeting and the Annual Town Council Meeting could either be combined or whether one could be the same evening as a council meeting. Confirmation of the legal requirements to be obtained.
