Have you ever thought of standing as a local councillor?

Halstead Town Council’s next elections will be in May 2027. The town is looking for people who live in Halstead, and have an interest in the local community, and would like to give some of their time to making things happen.

Decisions taken at local council level can significantly affect those who live here, and involve planning – whether new housing estates should be built, amenities and facilities offered in the town, parking and prohibition of parking, as well as the organisation of events put on by the council.

At this level in local government, discussions are very rarely political, but with devolution round the corner, government at town and parish council level will become increasingly important.

Full training is given to all elected by the Town Council officers, and externally at the Essex Association of Local councils.
