Halstead Town Council
Press Release – 11th January 2022
Budget and Precept
“At the Halstead Town Council meeting on Monday evening the council approved the budget and precept for 2022/23.
The budget includes funding for a return of all of the normal events and activities that we have enjoyed in previous years plus an additional event to be held on the Queen’s Jubilee weekend. The council hopes that as we come out of Covid restrictions in the coming months we will be able to hold these events.
To help and support local clubs and organisations a grants budget has been set at £4,000 for the year. Applications for these grants will be open from April 2022 and close at end June 2022 – contact HTC for details.”
During the Covid pandemic people have required and become more familiar with to contactless methods of payment for many items. HTC has decided to modernise and offer more flexibility in the payment of car park charges. New contactless payment pay & display machines have already been introduced and the MiPermit app payment will be launched in April 2022. Increased costs have, however, led to the need to reluctantly increase car park charges for the first time in three years. These charges will take effect from 1st April 2022.
It will also be necessary to make a small increase in council tax of 94p per year (2%) for the representative Band D property with a pro-rata increase for all other property bands.”
